The kids worked collaboratively to create their own version of "If you give a _ a _," and utilized the ipod to record their projects. Collaboration in all content areas: Science
In order to teach our kids how to be innovative many opportunities such as this one show just how creative little ones can be. I made each group a ziploc bag with random materials from the physical science kit such as magnets, paper clips, rulers, blocks, and washers. The task was to design a new piece of playground equipment, name it, write the rules and explain what forces are being used. The kids worked in groups of 4-6 showing high engagement, cooperation and team work.

Fluency practice with the i-pod
Allowing students more choices makes learning tasks worthwhile. The kids were allowed to pick a book and practice fluency using the voice memo on the ipod. Here are a few examples of the struggling readers and how successful this center is for them.
